After a rain check due to some uncooperative weather, the Nine Mile Creek Community Celebration is back on the calendar. Set to occur on June 5 from 4 to 6 p.m., residents who frequent Moir Park will get to fully experience the event that was originally planned for May 21.
The celebration, now slated for Wednesday at 10320 Morgan Ave. S., aims to quickly reacquaint the community with the Moving Bloomington Forward initiative while simultaneously marking the beginning of the Nine Mile Creek Corridor renewal project. Families are invited to meet the project team, enjoy some playground activities, yard games, and grab a bite from the Sambusa Samosa food truck.
This communal gathering isn't only about leisure—it's an engagement plea. The city wants to bring forward residents to share their tales of the creek corridor, waxing on its past and pondering its future. "Celebrate the history of the park and share your stories of the Nine Mile Creek Corridor area", beckons the invitation posted on the city's bulletin.
For those who can't manage to make it to the festivity but still wish to voice their experiences or pose a question, the city has established an online platform. Interested parties are directed to "visit Let's Talk Bloomington and leave a note or ask a question", ensuring that all community members have the opportunity to get involved. While the event is free, the food truck will provide dinner options at a cost.
If additional details are needed, the curious are encouraged to visit the official project page at blm.mn/forward or to send an email to [email protected]. With the stage set for a reinvigorated meeting of neighbors and nature lovers, the event presents an opportunity for locals to forge new memories in a familiar space—an invitation as warm as the anticipated summer day.
