A Bucks County woman has been charged following what authorities are calling a fabricated report of attempted rape and kidnapping, landing an innocent man in jail for over a month, local officials report.

Anjela Borisova Urumova, a 20-year-old from Bristol Township, was accused of spinning a false narrative to police, claiming a man tried to violently abduct and sexually assault her in a grocery store parking lot, prosecutors said. According to FOX 29 News, the accused, Daniel Pierson, was unjustly locked up for 31 days. This is before investigators uncovered the truth behind Urumova's allegations.

In a detailed report, the Bucks County District Attorney's office declared Urumova charged with false alarm to an agency of public safety and tampering with or fabricating physical evidence among other offenses. As CBS Philadelphia notes, it was only after a forensic review of Urumova's cellphone data and a thorough examination of area surveillance footage that the inconsistencies in her story emerged. The extensive review of footage from multiple retailers by Middletown Township Police played a critical role in unraveling the false claims.

Urumova subsequently admitted to the detectives that she falsely identified Pierson as her attacker, as indicated by the District Attorney's office. "She told police she specifically targeted and identified Pierson as the attacker," the office revealed, a detail also reported by CBS Philadelphia. Her arraignment was on Monday, where she was remanded to Bucks County Correctional Facility with bail set at $30,000, 10 percent.

Meanwhile, the wrongfully accused Pierson gained his freedom on May 17, his charges fully withdrawn, as per NBC Philadelphia. The authorities took swift action following Urumova's confession, seeking to rectify the grave injustice served upon an innocent citizen.
