
A thief with a penchant for dental equipment has California authorities on high alert after a break-in at a Calabasas dentist's office last month. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department is turning to the public for help in catching the burglar, who made off with a trove of items including an X-ray machine, a computer tablet, various dental tools, and a haul of cash totaling $2,400. Officials report that the heist occurred at Dentique Dental Lounge, nested in a commercial hub on Las Virgenes Road, according to KTLA.
In a sequence of events fit for a heist movie, the masked suspect, concealing their identity with a scarf over their head, initially broke a window and briefly entered the office without nicking anything, then returning later equipped to disable the security measures and complete their crime the scuffle left shards of glass and a void in the office's inventory, as CBS News reported. Images captured by surveillance cameras, which the suspect later disabled, show the figure with their features obscured by the scarf.
