Chandler residents, mark your calendars and plan your Memorial Day accordingly. The City of Chandler has announced service changes for the holiday on Monday, May 27, 2024. City administrative offices will be taking a breather, staying closed for the day. However, those looking to dispose of their trash won't have to wait, as trash and recycling collection will proceed as usual on Memorial Day.
Outdoor enthusiasts take note, the Recycling-Solid Waste Collection Center won't be open, but the Tumbleweed Recreation Center will be operating on special holiday hours from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tennis buffs can also get their game on at the Chandler Tennis Center at Tumbleweed Park, with doors open from 6:30 to 10:30 a.m. As for the Senior Center, the Chandler Nature Center, and the Snedigar Recreation Center, they will join the Downtown Community Center in observing the holiday, hence, they'll be closed.
Knowledge seekers and book lovers be aware - all Chandler Public Libraries, encompassing the Downtown, Basha, Hamilton, and Sunset branches, will remain shut throughout Memorial Day. Equally, those looking to immerse themselves in history and art will need to pause their plans as both the Chandler Museum and the Vision Gallery will not be welcoming visitors, and the Center for the Arts Gallery will follow suit.
Swimmers looking to cool off, don't despair. All pools, except the Folley, are ready to welcome you from noon to 5 p.m., just remember there will be no lap swimming sessions at Hamilton, Desert Oasis, Nozomi, and Mesquite Groves. Considering the Center for the Arts box office won't be selling tickets on Memorial Day, perhaps it's a perfect day to take a dip instead.
