The community of Coon Rapids is gearing up for another round of giving as the local Coon Rapids Women of Today prepare to host a drive dedicated to supporting the city's disadvantaged youth. The "Hygiene and Food Drive" aims to build upon last year's successful effort that stocked the shelves of the Hope 4 Youth organization with $20,000 worth of essential goods.
In the heart of Anoka County, where community action speaks louder than words, the civic-minded ladies are setting their sights high. "We did it last year and it was a huge success and we're hoping that with the community's generosity again, we'll be able to do the same for the organization this summer," Lori Juliette, treasurer with the Coon Rapids Women of Today, told the city's official website. Residents are encouraged to take part in this charitable event that is set to unfold on Saturday, June 8, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the Coon Rapids Civic Center, in a convenient drive-up and drop-off format.
The call for donations is clear-cut: personal hygiene items and non-perishable food products to make daily life a bit easier for those who are struggling the most. Shampoo, conditioner, body wash, toothpaste, and razors are among the requested items. In terms of sustenance, canned goods, cereal, granola bars, and peanut butter are suggested. For those who prefer a monetary contribution, cash donations will also graciously be accepted.
It's not just about filling cupboards, it's about empowering lives through small acts that pack a big punch. With such community drives, Hope 4 Youth has been able to extend a helping hand to many local adolescents facing the harsh realities of homelessness — handing them not just a meal, or clean hair, but also a dose of hope. Details on how to contribute can be found on the Coon Rapids Women of Today website.
