An Eastpointe woman is facing a life felony charge after being arraigned on Wednesday for multiple counts of assault against her live-in boyfriend, a dispute that allegedly erupted over his suspected infidelity, as reported by the Macomb Daily.
26-year-old Shantisha Howse is accused of stabbing her boyfriend multiple times on Monday night, police responded to the domestic dispute at the 24000 block of Valley Avenue finding the male victim with six stab wounds he was attacked while attempting to pack his things to move out; Howse also suffered a cut to her pinky during the incident, authorities disclosed.
The arraignment took place before the 38th District Court Judge Kathleen Galen who set Howse's bond at a stringent $250,000 cash/surety only, if she is released, she’s required to wear a GPS tether and is prohibited from contacting the victim.
"This is an example of how domestic violence can escalate," Macomb County Prosecutor Peter Lucido said, pointing to the urgent need for intervention "Violence has no place in our homes, and we are committed to ensuring justice for every victim; it is our responsibility to stop the cycle of domestic violence and protect those among us," this according to Macomb County, Michigan.
Howse is scheduled for a probable cause hearing at 8 a.m. on May 28, followed by a preliminary examination on June 4, both to take place in the 38th District Court.
