A walk-up Einstein Bros. Bagels counter is set to open Monday inside the lobby of One Campus Martius, marking the chain's first downtown Detroit location and giving office workers a quick-service bagel option in a spot that sat empty since Tim Hortons closed its storefront there. The roughly 1,200-square-foot shop will sit on the first floor next to True Market, serving bagels, breakfast and lunch sandwiches, specialty coffees and fruit refreshers from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., Monday through Friday.

The opening was first reported by the Detroit Free Press, which detailed the shop's menu, hours and location next to True Market inside the Bedrock-owned office tower. The counter is owned by Randy Dickow, president of food and beverage for Bloomfield Hills-based Cicero Hospitality Group, who also operates Adelina, an upscale Italian-Mediterranean restaurant he opened with celebrity chef Fabio Viviani on Woodward Avenue in downtown Detroit in March 2024, according to dbusiness.com. Cicero Hospitality also runs Bell Bistro, a modern American concept that opened in downtown Birmingham in late 2024 inside the former Mad Hatter Bistro space, per Downtown Publications.

Filling a Lobby Left Empty Since Tim Hortons

The lobby space previously housed a Tim Hortons storefront that sold bagels to downtown office workers before shutting down; downtown Detroit had no bagel shop, according to Deadline Detroit. The new shop will offer third-party delivery and catering, along with sandwich options like nova lox, turkey, and bacon and avocado, plus pizza bagels on the menu.

One Campus Martius is a 15-story, 1.3-million-square-foot office tower that Bedrock acquired in 2014, and it now houses corporate tenants including Rocket Mortgage and StockX. Its central lobby atrium features an indoor waterfall designed by WET Design.

Part of a Bigger Midwest Bagel Push

The downtown opening follows a string of Einstein Bros. Bagels conversions across metro Detroit earlier this year. Four Bruegger's Bagels locations in Ann Arbor, Bloomfield Hills, East Lansing and Royal Oak closed for four-to-five-week remodels in spring 2026 to relaunch under Einstein's banner, part of a strategy Hoodline covered in its metro Detroit bagel conversion report. The chain now counts more than 15 locations across metro Detroit.

The Michigan conversions bring together Einstein's lighter, baked bagels and Bruegger's traditional kettle-boiled, New York-style recipe.

The Detroit opening also lines up with a larger corporate growth plan: Bagel Brands plans to open more than 300 new locations and renovate existing restaurants.

Breakfast and Lunch at the Counter

The downtown counter serves both breakfast and lunch items.

The One Campus Martius counter arrives in a stretch of downtown that has seen plenty of retail churn in recent months. Hoodline reported in May that the Sugar Factory candy shop at 45 Monroe, near Campus Martius Park, abruptly went dark, while a separate Hoodline report in April covered a legal fight over restaurant tenancy inside the park itself involving Parc.
