This weekend, Eden Prairie is getting serious about junk. In an event exclusive to Eden Prairie residents, a massive recycling drop-off occasion will take place this Saturday, May 4, from 8 a.m. to noon at Eden Prairie Yard Waste Site, located at 9811 Flying Cloud Drive. Only those who can provide a valid ID proving they live within the city limits will be able to participate in the event, which promises to take a considerable amount of clutter off locals' hands – from old appliances and tires to mattresses and box springs.
According to details posted on the city's website, those who are looking forward to the cleanout but can’t make it to the drop-off event, shouldn't fret. The city is running a curbside pickup service for the entire month of May, accepting the same wide range of household items. Eden Prairie households can rid their homes of unwanted goods Monday through Friday, from May 1 to May 31, excluding bulbs and hazardous materials.
Costs associated with these services vary. For the drop-off event, Eden Prairie has provided a detailed price list for the disposal of each type of item. Those opting for curbside pickup will be charged a $25 fee plus the cost per item, with another detailed price list available online. These fees are in place not just to cover disposal costs, but to encourage responsible recycling habits among residents.
For the convenience of residents, Certified Recycling can be dialed at 952-894-1448 to schedule a curbside pickup, according to the city's announcement. Residents are instructed to place their recyclable items as close to the curb as possible on the scheduled date. If rain is trying to spoil the plan, items should be placed near the garage or covered with a tarp to keep them dry.
