An Arizona inmate who failed to return from a work release program is back in custody after a more than week-long manhunt. Trevor Trammel, 32, who was reportedly months away from completing his sentence, did not show up at the Camp Verde Detention Center as expected on May 1, prompting an intensive search effort. According to a statement obtained by FOX10 Phoenix, the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office launched "a full-scale team effort" to locate the missing inmate.

The search came to a culmination on May 9 when the United States Marshals Service received information that Trammel was in Prescott. A traffic stop was attempted on a truck with Trammel as the passenger, but the driver opted to quickly flee the scene. Following the vehicle's speeding past a stakeout location, Trammel and the driver abandoned the truck and attempted to escape on foot. Both individuals were eventually apprehended after a chase, with Trammel being discovered hiding in a yard, as per reports from local authorities.

A nationwide arrest warrant had been issued for Trammel's capture, according to KTAR News. The arrest came after a tip led law enforcement to believe Trammel had left the area with his girlfriend and might have been planning to travel to Michigan. Those plans were cut short, however, as he was found hiding in Prescott.

Now, Trammel faces additional felony charges, specifically for second-degree escape and fleeing a law enforcement vehicle. The Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office underscored the gravity of these offenses, noting the increased legal troubles he now faces. Meanwhile, the circumstances of his initial incarceration remain undisclosed.
