A Michigan woman charged after allegedly working as a fake nurse in Oakland County, according to officials. Cassandra Gilleylen, who also goes by Cassandra Bowens, is reportedly facing a slew of felonies for her impersonation scheme.

Per the Michigan Attorney General's announcement, the 52-year-old Flint resident is accused of having pretended to safely practice as an R.N. at several nursing facilities, all the while lacking a valid license or the essential educational background. The facilities in question are Mission Point of Clarkston, Mission Point of Holly and Wellbridge of Clarkston, where she worked between September 2023 and March 2024, according to WWJ.

Attorney General Dana Nessel was firm on the matter, stating in a press release, “Licenses to practice as a health care professional exist primarily to protect people from harm,” She added, “Schemes to avoid licensing requirements are dangerous, and my department takes them very seriously.”  In total, Gilleylen faces 30 counts of unauthorized practice of a health profession and three counts of identity theft, with the health charges alone carrying a possible four-year prison term each.

Gilleylen was arraigned before Magistrate Michael Bosnic in the 52-2 District Court in Oakland County, where she was granted a $75,000 personal recognizance bond. She is set to soon return to court for further proceedings, with a probable cause conference planned for June 4, as per the details from the Michigan Department of Attorney General.

Details further inform that this division operates with substantial federal funding, complemented by state resources, to oversee and crack down on fraudulent medical practices across Michigan.
