In an early morning discovery that has sparked a police investigation, a 59-year-old Flint woman was found dead in her car on a Michigan freeway. According to CBS Detroit, the vehicle, a Honda Civic, was located on the I-94 freeway exit ramp at Haggerty Road around 2:35 a.m. by Van Buren Township officers.
Upon arrival, Michigan State Police took over the scene and later identified the victim, promptly notifying her surviving family members. While the precise cause of death remains undetermined, Lieutenant Mike Shaw stated, "The on scene investigation did not locate any signs of foul play, narcotics use, or any evidence of a crash," The information was relayed in a statement obtained by CBS Detroit.
As the case unfolds, the Wayne County Medical Examiner's office will carry out an autopsy to help unravel the mystery surrounding the woman's sudden death. Meanwhile, Michigan State Police reiterated that thus far, no evidence suggests a threat to public safety.
The investigation into this unexpected death is still active, with authorities waiting to thoroughly analyze autopsy results. "Once the autopsy is completed, we will be able to determine our next steps in this investigation," Shaw told WWJ Newsradio.
