Frisco City Council has streamlined the rules on outdoor watering with a new Water Management Plan, outlining specific dates for each season, the city confirmed earlier this week.
The revised schedule now dictates that spring outdoor watering is permitted one day per week, specifically on a resident’s trash day from April 1 to May 31. The summer season, which spans from June 1 through August 31, allows watering two times a week — the regular trash collection day and an additional day as per a predefined table, "The simplified schedule also will be easier for homeowners to use consistently, which ultimately helps us conserve water,” Ron Garcia, Utilities Superintendent of Public Works, expressed in an official statement. Fall will mirror the spring schedule of one watering day per week, and during winter, from November 1 to March 31, outdoor watering is entirely restricted, according to the City of Frisco.
For homeowners looking to maintain their lawns and gardens, the designated Summer Two (2) Day Watering Day Schedule is now accessible online. In addition, residents should note that prohibited outdoor watering hours, which disallow automatic irrigation from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., remain unchanged. The city has also clarified that low-volume methods such as drip irrigation and micro-irrigation are permitted when necessary, offering some flexibility outside the spraying restrictions.
