A pair of suspects, one just 13 years of age and the other 18 have been clapped in irons in connection with a brazen string of crimes that included a home invasion, violent robbery, and car theft, Harris County lawmen said. The arrests stem from a May 13 spree that kicked off with a break-in at a home on Tulipan Springs Trail and continued with another robbery on Fuchsia Lane.
Deputies from Constable Mark Herman's office spotted and pulled over the getaway vehicle on Flax Bourton Street, while a third suspect took to his heels, evading capture—now the two apprehended suspects face a slew of charges, the authorities noted. In the car, deputies uncovered a cache of firearms and a trove of stolen goods incontrovertibly linked to the crime wave lashing the community.
According to a post on the Constable’s official Facebook page, the grown suspect was identified as Rafael Alejandro Rios, and alongside the unnamed minor, they are now detained, Rios in adult jail and the juvenile in a juvenile detention center; facing allegations including Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Burglary to a Habitation, and Theft of a Vehicle.
Constable Mark Herman was succinct in laying out the consequences for Rios and the young accomplice, stating, "Rafael Alejandro Rios and the juvenile male have been arrested, transported to their respective jails, and are currently being charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Burglary to a Habitation, and Theft of a Vehicle. Additional charges may follow once the investigation has been completed." The investigation remains ongoing.
