A suspect led law enforcement on a high-speed chase before winding up stuck in a retention pond off Birnamwood Drive, officials said. The Harris County Precinct 4 Constable's Office said that the pursuit began when a deputy tried to stop the driver, identified as Edward Dixon, for speeding and reckless driving along the 26700 block of Cypresswood Drive on May 20.
Constable Mark Herman reported that Dixon refused to pull over, which resulted in a pursuit ending with the suspect's vehicle trapped in a retention pond. Following the incident, the driver was apprehended without further complications.
Upon his detention, Dixon was found to be in possession of marijuana and a handgun, leading to his arrest on charges of evading and unlawfully carrying a weapon. In a Facebook post from the Constable's office, Herman stated, "Edward Dixon was arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail for Evading and Unlawful Carry of a Weapon. His bond and court information have not been set at this time." The post provided key details of the incident and the ensuing arrest of the suspect.
Additional details concerning Dixon's legal representation and the specific charges he will face in court will likely emerge following administrative processes and preliminary hearings.
