A traffic stop conducted by Harris County officers has led to the arrest of a man with multiple outstanding warrants, including one for a felony charge. The apprehension occurred on May 4 in the 5300 block of North Sam Houston Parkway West when a deputy from Constable Mark Herman's Office initiated the stop that would lead to Chanselor Evan Phillips landing behind bars.

Phillips was reportedly pulled over for a routine traffic violation, but the encounter escalated after his identity was confirmed. It was discovered that he had a string of legal issues hanging over his head, not least among them, assault and retaliation charges.

The suspect was said to have three Class C Misdemeanor warrants out of the Harris County Justice of the Peace 4-1, a Class A Misdemeanor warrant for Assault, and a third-degree felony warrant for Retaliation, according to a statement from Constable Herman's Office.

"Chanselor Evan Phillips was arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail for open warrants. His total bond was set at $5,000.00 out of the 232nd District Court and County Court 5." Constable Mark Herman disclosed in the release. Phillips is due for a court appearance where he will answer the allegations. Details on his legal representation were not immediately available.
