
A man's life was tragically cut short in an early morning accident on the Southwest Freeway, as reported by City of Houston News. Around 5:30 a.m. on Sunday, the victim, who has yet to be named pending identification from the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences, was fatally struck as he tried to cross the freeway.
Driving northbound, a black GMC Terrain SUV hit the male pedestrian, attempting to navigate the main lanes on foot. According to an interview obtained by City of Houston News, HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant K. Harris and Officer J. Tran reported that the Houston Fire Department paramedics quickly arrived at the scene. Despite their efforts, the man was pronounced dead.
The driver of the GMC, a 40-year-old woman, stopped immediately after the incident occurred. She complied with the law enforcement officers, showing no signs of impairment, and after questioning, she was released. The authorities are currently withholding her name.
While no charges have been pressed yet, the outcome of this inquiry might hinge on the results of a blood draw. "No charges have been filed at this time, as the investigation is pending results of a blood draw," expressed Sergeant K. Harris and Officer J. Tran in the statement obtained by the City of Houston News.
