The Tomball Police Department's Criminal Investigations Division and the Tomball Fire Marshal's Office are jointly investigating the blaze, according to KHOU, which reported the case has been cataloged under number 2026-08290140. As Click2Houston reported, the Tomball Police Department is asking the public for assistance in the arson investigation, and anyone who saw suspicious activity near the store or who has information about the person responsible is asked to contact Detective M. Maglitto.
Neither agency has publicly disclosed what evidence led them to suspect arson or where inside or outside the store the fire originated, per the same KHOU report. The extent of any structural or inventory damage has also not been released.

Citizen app safety logs showed multiple emergency calls in the 27600 to 27700 blocks of Tomball Parkway in mid-August, including an unconfirmed report of an outside fire behind a restaurant and a separate abandoned vehicle alert at the same 27706 address as the Hobby Lobby. It remains unclear whether either incident is connected to Saturday's fire.
