A juvenile has been charged with murder in the shooting death of 18-year-old Jose Godinez, that occurred in February at 9700 Goldcrest Street. The suspect, a 16-year-old male, was apprehended on Wednesday and referred to the Harris County Juvenile Probation authorities, as confirmed by the City of Houston News.
The victim was found with a gunshot wound inside his vehicle, which was located in a ditch near the crime scene. Despite the efforts of the Houston Fire Department paramedics, Godinez succumbed to his injuries at Ben Taub General Hospital. Initially, detectives were left with no leads on a motive or suspect for the February 28 shooting. However, the investigation led by HPD Homicide Division Detectives D. Davis and D. Lunceford subsequently identified the unnamed juvenile as the alleged perpetrator.
Details about the case remain sparse due to the suspect’s age; Texas law prohibits the disclosure of booking photos and personal information of juvenile suspects. The authorities have not released further information on the events leading up to the shooting, nor any details pertaining the circumstances of the arrest.
