A woman has been slapped with charges linked to a shooting outside an apartment complex in Houston that left another woman wounded early last Friday. The Houston Police Department has confirmed that 22-year-old Makayla Shynce Pratt was arrested in connection the incident, which occurred at 16415 Buccaneer Lane around 1:30 a.m.
Pratt is facing charges of aggravated assault of a family member and tampering/fabricating evidence, both of which are felonies in the 487th State District Court. A photo from Pratt's booking in February 2024 has been released alongside the news by authorities. Despite the altercation, the victim, who is also 22 and has not been named, was transported to an area hospital in stable condition.
According to the details released by the City of Houston News, detectives were called to the scene, finding the victim in the parking lot with a leg wound. The victim was well enough to give officers information leading them to Pratt, who she identified as her ex-partner.
In a concise narrative, HPD's Major Assaults & Family Violence Division Detective J. Hasley noted that other officers located Pratt at a nearby motel. She was apprehended without a hassle. The investigation further revealed that Pratt had a two-year-old child with her during the alarming episode. Thankfully, the child involved was not harmed and was later released to a family member.
