In Humble, a tragic car accident took a woman's life and left a man hospitalized on Sunday morning. Sheriff Ed Gonzalez of Harris County confirmed the fatal incident involving a single vehicle that crashed on Smith Road. ABC13 reports that the deceased has been identified as Diana Grace Gonzalez, a passenger in the car.
The driver, Jason Aycock, 43, apparently veered off the lane at the 14300 block of Smith Road, plunging his blue 2013 Nissan Versa into a nearby ditch and then colliding with a concrete driveway and a tree. Deputies noted Aycock showed "signs of impairment" at the scene of the accident. Neither Aycock nor Gonzalez were wearing their seatbelts when the vehicle struck the tree.
Aycock was taken to a local hospital following the crash and his condition was declared fair, according to Harris County Sheriff's Office. The Sheriff's Office is currently investigating the details of the crash, including the nature of Aycock's alleged impairment. As of now, no criminal charges have been filed against him.
