Despite concerns over dwindling reservoir levels, businesses around Lake Travis reported a significant uptick in activity over the Memorial Day weekend. According to CBS Austin, local establishments were bustling with patrons, suggesting a resilience in recreational enthusiasm and an unexpected boom in economic activity.

Nabin Naral, the owner of Wwhisky’s Liquor by Lake Travis, was quoted saying, “We had unexpected results,” and highlighted an approximate 30% increase in customers compared to the previous year. Celebrations and crowds filled the local businesses. "Restaurants over on the other side, barseverybody was full. Even across the street there’s another restaurant – that was full. Good things happened to this area," Naral told CBS Austin. Meanwhile, leisure seekers had to navigate around the lake's low capacity, which according to a report, is about 48 feet below normal levels.

Lake Travis's allure didn't falter, evident in the operations of Austin’s Boat Tours which saw a surge in demand. Angel Edwards, the owner of the company, informed CBS Austin, “Even today, we had like almost every single boat out.” Despite concerns, the company managed to deploy seven of its 10 boats for just the afternoon tour on Memorial Day. This turnout was despite a challenging launch situation due to low water levels, in which Edwards mentioned the need for just "a little bit more," water for their private ramp to become operational.

Water scarcity has posed distinct hazards for boaters. The diminished water line creates a treacherous setting for those unfamiliar with the terrain beneath Lake Travis' surface. Lake Travis, a significant part of the central Texas landscape, traditionally attracts scores of visitors eager to kick off summer on the water. Even with safety concerns raised by the low water levels, the buoyant disposition of holiday-goers and the tenacity of local businesses appeared to keep the Memorial Day spirit afloat.
