Lewisville is tuning up for its annual audio feast as the Sounds of Lewisville concert series shuffles its calendar to escape the Texas heat. The city's very own Wayne Ferguson Plaza is bracing for an eclectic array of musical homages starting with Purple Day - a funk-filled tribute to the one and only Prince.
According to the City of Lewisville, Texas, the change is a play to avoid the sizzle of summer and give attendees a cooler concert experience. Purple Day, guided by the Grammy-scooping maestro RC Williams, of Erykah Badu fame, is hitting the stage on Tuesday, May 14 bringing their brand of rock and funk that reverberated through last year's audience.
La Bell sets the mood as the opener for the series. Known for her velvet vocals that dance to hip-hop and R&B tunes, she's fresh from a Grammy nod and ready to claim the limelight. Concerts are set to roll every Tuesday night throughout May and June with the acts starting the show fires at 7 p.m., and the headliners taking it to a higher crescendo from 8 to 9:30 p.m.
Attendees should get cozy with their blankets and lawn chairs, and leash their well-behaved pets to join in the mix. And while food and drinks can be snagged, the Plaza is putting a cork on smoking and vaping. The grand finale will blast off with the DCTA A-train Red White & Lewisville show featuring ESCAPE – the Journey tribute band, culminating with a low-level fireworks spectacle one can't miss.
