A grim tally of violence shadowed Long Beach, with authorities probing a series of violent incidents including a homicide, road carnage claiming a teen's life, two shootings leaving victims in their wake, and a stabbing over a verbal dispute gone awry—all within the span of a single night, according to the Long Beach Police Department.
The LBPD reported that a woman was fatally shot in the upper body on May 11 in the 5700 block of Paramount Boulevard at around 10 p.m. Officers arriving at the scene confirmed the victim was dead upon their arrival, with homicide detectives now scrambling to piece together the circumstances that led to her untimely demise, as reported by the Long Beach Police Department. In a separate tragedy, Officers were called to the junction of Orange Avenue and South Street, where a collision claimed the life of a 17-year-old boy on May 12.
A shooting incident was later unfurled after a female driver, found uninjured, brought the authorities to the scene. Detectives found evidence of gunfire and learned an altercation spiraled into a shooting at the 500 block of Queensway Drive earlier. A male with non-life-threatening leg wounds was located shortly after, but he balked at receiving medical attention or shedding more light on the circumstances, with detectives left grasping for a tangible lead, as detailed by the LBPD.
Another victim, a woman in stable condition, turned up at a local hospital nursing a gunshot wound, claiming she was shot near 11th Street and Long Beach Boulevard but offered no further clues, which has left investigators at a standstill. Meanwhile, a stabbing in the area of 12th Street and Fashion Avenue came about after a verbal fight took a sinister turn, resulting in a male victim being stabbed in the upper body. The suspect in this case couldn't evade the law's long arm and is currently jailed, awaiting booking while his victim recovers in hospital, as per the LBPD.
