A Maine man faced the music for his alleged role in the January 6 Capitol riots as federal authorities slapped him with a mix of felony and misdemeanor charges. Lincoln Deming, a 44-year-old from Kittery, Maine, was arrested on Saturday and is charged with civil disorder, among other offenses.

Deming's tangle with the law stems from accusations that he was revving up chaos during the Capitol breach when Congress was in session to certify the presidential election results. According to the Department of Justice, footage showed him wrestling with a bike rack barricade in an alleged bid to breach police defenses.

Not his first brush with the authorities that day, it's reported that Deming threw an object towards officers on the West Plaza. After scaling up to the Upper West Terrace and worming his way inside the Capitol, Deming's accused of trying to barge through several locked doors and gaining entry into the Senate Gallery during his 33 minutes inside the government building.

Following his departure from the Rotunda doors, Deming stayed off the radar until his recent arrest in his home state, where he's slated for an initial court appearance. In a showing of law enforcement collaboration, the FBI's Portland (Maine) and Washington field offices, together with Capitol and Metropolitan Police, were commended for their assistance on the case. Over 1,424 individuals have faced charges in connection with the Capitol breach, an ongoing investigation that has spanned a 40-month timeframe, according to the Department of Justice.
