Major Georgia 400 Infrastructure Projects Complete in Fulton County, Enhancing Sandy Springs and Alpharetta ConnectivitySource: Facebook/Georgia Department of Transportation

Motorists in Fulton County can breathe a sigh of relief as two major infrastructure projects on Georgia 400 have finally wrapped up. The completion marks a significant milestone for the suburban communities of Sandy Springs and Alpharetta, where residents and drivers have faced construction-related disruptions.

In Alpharetta, the Kimball Bridge Road over Georgia 400 has been overhauled into a taller, wider bridge that includes a multi-use trail and sidewalk – features that are expected to boost safety for pedestrians and cyclists. The renovation, part of a $48 million bridge replacement initiative by the Georgia Department of Transportation, aims to pave the way for future express lanes on Georgia 400. "I am so excited that I don't have to drive around through Old Milton (Parkway) or go around anywhere, so I love it," local resident Manjula Reddy told WSBTV, expressing her enthusiasm for the project's completion.

The Sandy Springs community is set to experience improved connectivity with the newly opened Glenridge Connector ramps, providing direct access from Interstate 285 westbound and Georgia 400 southbound. Despite the recent opening, the Georgia Department of Transportation has warned that construction crews will remain on site, which may continue to cause delays for some time.

According to a FOX5 Atlanta report, the improvements at the Glenridge Connector are part of the larger Transform 285/400 project that commenced in 2017. Meanwhile, the new design of Kimball Bridge, enhancing both function and aesthetic appeal with features like stonework and lampposts, is set to serve as a concrete symbol of progress within the region. "For the most part, I think everybody's thrilled that it’s gonna be open," Richard Lawson, who resides near the bridge, told WSBTV.

Despite the reopening, further work including final roadway striping and placement of decorative features will continue in the coming weeks, according to the City of Alpharetta. The comprehensive upgrades across these Georgian suburbs reflect an ongoing commitment to modernizing infrastructure and facilitating smoother commutes, thus making a tangible difference in the daily lives of local residents.
