Maple Grove Police Department's (MGPD) finest took a break from their day-to-day duties to honor the young hearts committed to the betterment of their community. The MGPD Explorers, a group of adolescents exploring a career in law enforcement under professional guidance, were given the opportunity to stand before the future change-makers of Minnesota on May 18.
The Hindu Society of MN's 2023 Volunteer Service Awards Ceremony became a stage for these young explorers to share their experiences and to also extend recognition to their peers. Officer Jackson Carlson, the leader of the Explorer program, took to the podium to not only talk about the department's efforts but also to inspire a new generation to continue actively serving their community. Grasping the chance to connect with young citizens, the MGPD representatives were instrumental in the distribution of presidential volunteer service awards, a commendation that celebrates youth vitality and investment in communal growth.
A post on the official Maple Grove Police Department Facebook page describes the involvement of the MGPD Explorers in detail, stating, "Explorer leader Officer Jackson Carlson spoke about our department & Explorer program." The same source confirms that the Explorers aided in handing out the honors, underscoring a commitment to service that goes beyond just patrolling streets and solving crimes, one that fosters a deeper connection with the youth.
The recognition came as a result of the young volunteers' unwavering dedication to giving back, a quality that the MGPD holds in high esteem. This collaboration served to not only encourage further volunteerism but also to bridge the gap between law enforcement and the community, firmly rooting police work in the fertile ground of trust and mutual respect. The award recipients, bathed in the glow of their benevolence, were a vivid reminder that the investment in our youth is indeed, to possibly sow the seeds of a society both safe and just.
