Memphis residents should brace themselves for an unsteady mix of sunshine and storms this week, as the National Weather Service in Memphis has predicted a rollercoaster of weather conditions. According to NWS Memphis, today's skies will be sunny with temperatures soaring as high as 90 degrees. However, as the sun sets, the possibility of showers and thunderstorms creeps in, with a 20 percent chance of precipitation tonight and a low temperature hovering around a balmy 72 degrees.
Wednesday brings with it a considerable shift to more volatile weather. The NWS Memphis forecasts a "50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms" with potential rainfall amounting to up to half an inch. This uptick in activity is attributed to a powerful south wind around 10 mph. Despite the expected inclement weather, temperatures will remain relatively high with a peak near 86 degrees.
As the week progresses, the forecast suggests no respite from the intermittent thunderstorms. Thursday night especially, shows a high probability for wet weather with NWS Memphis stating a "70 percent chance of precipitation" that could lead to rainfall amounts between one and two inches. Residents should prepare to grapple with the potential for substantial downpours during these periods.
Approaching the weekend, the likelihood of rainfall persists. Friday morning is set to kick off with showers and thunderstorms, while the day itself will feature a high near 84 degrees. It is predicted to be partly sunny, despite a 70 percent chance of rainstorms bringing more than just a soundtrack to the start of the weekend. The pattern of unsettled weather is expected to stretch into the Memorial Day weekend, with the NWS Memphis giving a "40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms" during the holiday itself.
