Mesa Murderer Sentenced to Natural Life in Prison for Calculated 2022 Double HomicideSource: Google Street View

Aaron Aldric Thomas, 54, will spend the rest of his days behind bars after being handed down two life sentences for the murders of two individuals in an East Valley home more than two years ago. Thomas was convicted last December of first-degree murder, armed robbery, and one count of burglary. According to details released by Maricopa County Superior Court, the sentences were rendered during a hearing on May 3.

As reported by 12 News, Thomas was found to meticulously plan and execute the murders, acquiring a gun, gloves, and mask to carry out his deadly intentions. He was discovered to sneakily have entered the Mesa home on Jan. 28, 2022, to ostensibly purchase drugs but instead killed Mottio Paschal, 32, and Makinley Charnoski, 24.

The chilling details reveal that Paschal was shot in the back just after he opened the door and turned around, while Charnoski was fatally shot as she began to scream as Thomas attempted to leave with the stolen drugs. Maricopa County Attorney Rachel Mitchell described the brutal acts as "cold-blooded" and "calculated," stating in a press release, "In two minutes, this man killed two people in such a cold-blooded, calculated way, making prison for the rest of his life the right place for him to be."

Law enforcement was able to close the case by recovering Thomas's DNA from a wall touched as he was fleeing the crime scene, and surveillance footage placed him there. As further detailed by KTAR News, Thomas shot Charnoski multiple times at point-blank range even as she begged for her life. Following the investigation, Aaron Aldric Thomas was apprehended at his Laveen home on March 10, 2022.

In addition to the natural life sentences for each of the murder charges, Thomas also received a concurrent 21 years for each of the armed robbery and burglary charges. These sentences cement a fate for Thomas away from society, unable to pose a threat outside his prison confines.
