Officers were called to the 900 block of Gross Rd. around 11:11 p.m. following reports of gunfire, upon arrival, they found Sye with a gunshot wound. Despite being rushed to a local hospital, he succumbed to his injuries. The other individual involved in the tragedy is asserting self-defense and has been cooperating with law enforcement, according to the Mesquite Police Department.
