Authorities are on the hunt for a suspect involved in a brazen armed carjacking incident in Southeast D.C. last month. A call to the community has been issued by the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) to aid in identifying those behind the violent theft.
The incident took place on the evening of April 6, 2024. It was around 7:47 p.m. when the victim, positioned by his car in the 1200 block of 34th Place SE, found himself suddenly surrounded. The MPD reported that the victim was accosted by multiple armed suspects, summarily thrown to the ground as they commandeered his personal effects and made off with his vehicle.
In an urgent bid to apprehend those responsible, the MPD has turned to the community. They have asked anyone with information to come forward. The details of the grim event were laid bare in a bulletin, marking a stark reminder of the vulnerability that can befall any citizen, anytime and anywhere.
The department has yet to publicly identify any suspects or persons of interest. They have, however, been diligent in canvassing for leads. In hopes of swiftly bringing the suspects to justice, information regarding the case continues to be gathered. The public can provide tips anonymously if they choose, ensuring that fear of reprisal does not silence vital witnesses.
