A Minneapolis felon, confirmed to be Dejavareah Marquise Brown, has been hit with a nine-year prison stay for running his arms and drugs racket. U.S. Attorney Andrew M. Luger announced on Monday that Brown, 26, was sentenced to 117 months for both the unlawful possession of two firearms and for employing one of them to push drugs.

The legal woes for Brown began after a high-speed chase on I-394 in Golden Valley, where he attempted to elude police, eventually crashing and taking an on-foot detour across the freeway. According to the Department of Justice, when officers finally collared him, they smelt a strong odor of alcohol and dug up a 9mm pistol plus ammunition from his vehicle.

Further trouble brewed for Brown in March 2022 when a warranted search of his crib turned up a .45-caliber pistol, cash, drug gear, and a stash of marijuana and fentanyl pills. Being a prior felon, Brown had no business hobnobbing with firearms or bullets, which spelled another layer of trouble for him.

On pleading guilty to two counts of being a felon in possession of a firearm and one count of having a firearm for his drug peddling business, Brown accepted his fate on January 16. He got the book thrown at him today by Chief Judge Patrick J. Schiltz in U.S. District Court, a fact detailed by the DOJ.

The Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office, Hennepin County Violent Offender Task Force, and the Golden Valley Police Department were the sleuths behind the case. Assistant U.S. Attorney Benjamin Bejar was the prosecutor delivering justice.
