
A man has succumbed to his injuries following a shooting incident on Tuesday, as confirmed by Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara. The event was initially detected by ShotSpotter technology, which reported four shots fired on the sidewalk of the 400 block on 23rd Ave N. Officers who were dispatched to the scene located the victim inside a vehicle, suffering from a gunshot wound. In a statement obtained by the Minneapolis Police Department, O’Hara stated, "Officers arrived and found a man inside a vehicle suffering from a gunshot wound and performed life saving measures before anyone called 911."
The gunshot victim was transported to the hospital on the night of the shooting where he eventually passed away. Details regarding the identity of the deceased, as well as the cause and manner of death, are to be released by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office at a later time. The man, who was in the car with another adult and two children when shots were fired into the vehicle, was the only one struck by gunfire. According to the incident report with the reference number GO# 24-144843, the other adult and children emerged unscathed.
The Minneapolis Police Department (MPD) forensic scientists responded to the area and processed the crime scene. MPD has yet to make any arrests in connection with the case and is currently investigating the circumstances that led up to the shooting, trying to ascertain if the event was a premeditated act aimed at the victim. Tips can also be submitted online through a secure platform, with the assurance that all provided information will remain anonymous.
Authorities are offering a financial reward for tips that lead to an arrest and conviction.
