A tragic turn of events unfolded in New Castle last night as a man's life was claimed in an electric scooter crash, according to Delaware State Police reports. At around 8:46 P.M. on May 26, a collision occurred at the crossroads of New Castle Avenue and Memorial Drive.

The late-night incident involved a northbound 2015 Honda Accord, poised to make a left turn, and a Tifgalop K-8 electric scooter proceeding south. The scooter, lacking sufficient lighting, failed to be spotted by the Honda's driver in time.

Authorities have withheld the scooter rider's identity, pending notification of next of kin. Further reports confirmed that the Honda's driver, a 50-year-old woman from Wilmington, has been evaluated at a hospital. Her encounter with the electric scooter resulted in a three-hour road closure as investigators combed the scene.
