A dramatic high-speed chase on Pennsylvania's Route 22 has led State Police to seek public assistance in identifying an aggressive motorcyclist and passenger accused of dragging a trooper during an attempted stop.
The incident unfolded Saturday morning when a trooper, monitoring traffic on the eastbound lanes of Route 22, clocked three motorcycles blazing past at 121mph in a 55mph zone; two of the bikes escaped by switching to the westbound lanes, while the third headed south on Route 343, the Lebtown reported. The chase tapered off on Route 343 before resuming when the rogue motorcyclists passed by the original radar post, Sean Brown, a Pennsylvania State Police spokesperson, revealed the bikers lacked registration plates, adding a layer of difficulty to the manhunt.
During the escalated engagement on Route 22, a trooper managed to stop the motorcycle with two riders; however, the situation swiftly turned violent as the operator revved the engine, "dragging said trooper a short distance causing minor injuries to the trooper," before once again fleeing the scene, now towards Route 934 where the pursuit was ultimately halted, officials from the Pennsylvania State Police provided details to ABC 27.
Authorities describe the driver as male and the passenger as female, no further identities have been confirmed, though the State Police fervently ask that anyone with information contact the Jonestown barracks at 717-865-2194 and reference incident number PA2024-685735. This serious breach of law and order underscores the risks law enforcement officers confront daily even in routine traffic duties and Pennsylvania State Police are stressing the urgency in apprehending these violators who put lives in peril on public roadways.
