A south Phoenix family was rattled yesterday when a pick-up truck barreled into their home, almost striking a slumbering infant. According to 12News, the crash occurred around 3:30 a.m. near 19th Avenue and Broadway Road.
Josue Martinez-Rojo, the homeowner, recounted the frightening moment, telling 12News, “I was hearing screeches and then I heard a big thump. It shook the house. It was kind of like a little earthquake.” The truck managed to not only to shatter the tranquility of the night but also to inflict significant damage upon the Martinez-Rojo abode, slamming into the bathroom and the baby's room. “He was kind of close to hitting the baby. So, we were just freaked out to see if anything happened to her," Martinez-Rojo said in a statement obtained by 12News.
The residence is now securely boarded up after the incident that could have ended with grave consequences. "It could have been so much worse," Martinez-Rojo stated. “This could happen to anybody. What a coincidence it happened to us.”
Meanwhile, the driver of the truck was transported to the hospital with minor injuries. Authorities continue to thoroughly to investigate the cause of the crash, as reported by azfamily.com.
