According to a report by AZ Family, the blaze took hold around 11:30 a.m. near 19th and Fairmount avenues. The homeowner, who had escaped to safety, told arriving crews his dog was still inside the peril-engulfed home. After the firefighters entered the residence and managed to contain the flames, they found the canine unharmed and were able to bring it outside to its owner. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
Despite the disarray wrought by the fire, the Phoenix Fire Department embodied precision and care. They extinguished an exterior fire that had extended into the home, and located the pet with an urgency that can only be explained by the bond between humans and their animal companions.
