In a show of competitive spirit, the Saint Paul Police Department (SPPD) pulled ahead of the Saint Paul Fire Department (SPFD) in a rowing race to see who could hit the 10,000-meter mark the quickest. As tongues wagged and muscles burned, the boys in blue outpaced their firefighting counterparts, pushing through to a hard-earned victory.
Boasting the traditional rivalry that often grips these two pillars of public service, the battle between the rowers was fierce. Eager to prove their prowess, each department fielded a team of ten, but in the end, it was the SPPD's rowing team who bested their opposition. According to a post on the SPPD’s official Facebook page, "Today, our officers came out on top."
The victors from the police department included Shawn Marlowe, Dean Bauers, Chaz Lemon, Todd Dejong, Alex Lemon, Andy Shanley, Blake Steffen, Mike Judd, Logan Goss, and Jim Hensrud. Elated by their triumph, the SPPD has already thrown down the gauntlet for a rematch, ever-ready for the next challenge, Saint Paul Fire!
While the SPFD might be reaching for their oars in anticipation of the next round, the SPPD's win added a notch to their belt in this ongoing display of friendly rivalry.
