The car was abandoned in the 700 block of B Street's business parking lot. Officers waited discreetly to see who would claim the vehicle. It wasn't long before individuals approached the vehicle and took off, which spurred the police to narrow their trap and pull the vehicle over. The driver was subsequently arrested on counts of auto theft, while the passenger got off the hook after it was clear they were unaware the minivan was hot.
During the subsequent search, a revolver entered the mix, was found within the stolen vehicle, and was seized for evidence. Police dig into its past to connect any dots with other potential crimes.
The prowess of San Rafael's Flock cameras can't be overstated. They've been key in reeling in various stolen vehicles and pinpointing suspects on the lam. These digital eyes have picked up tracks of 511 vehicles associated with criminal activity in the past month alone.
