A mother of four tragically perished in Southeast Houston when a tree was brought down by severe weather, crashing into her SUV. The woman, whose identity remains withheld, met her fate near Buffalo Bayou during Thursday's violent storms. According to Click2Houston, the incident took place around 6:30 p.m., as the woman attempted to move her car, fearing it would be struck by the storm-toppled tree.
Despite her efforts to secure the vehicle, and prevent it from ruin, the tree fell on the car and claimed her life. Houston's Mayor John Whitmire confirmed later that evening there were at least four storm-related fatalities, although it was not immediately clear if the woman was one of the victims he referred to.
Fierce weather in Houston also led to the collapse of two construction cranes, killing one individual who was in a cement truck at the time. KIAH reports that this accident happened within the same timeframe as the fallen tree incident, between 6 and 7 p.m.
