Deputies swarmed a local residence this past Saturday after a disturbance call ratcheted up concerns in a quiet neighborhood. In the 2600 block of Bouvardia Way, where gunfire is seldom heard, deputies from Constable Mark Herman's Office rushed to the scene, weapons at the ready, expecting another mundane noise complaint to be something more sinister this time.
Having arrived, deputies could make out the sound of a gunshot ringing from within the house before they crossed the threshold. In response to the gunshot heard, they entered and found the homeowner shaken but unharmed, claiming to have fired a warning shot at Jacqulyn Torres – the suspect who'd allegedly broken in with violent intentions. According to a statement obtained by Constable Herman's Facebook page, the homeowner repelled Torres without recourse to the deputies' intervention.
The quick response from Constable Deputies led to the swift location and detention of Torres, bringing some measure of relief to those living in fear following the incident. The adrenaline-fueled manhunt concluded with Torres in cuffs and facing serious charges.
"Jacqulyn Torres was arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail, charged with Burglary with the Intent to Commit Assault," said Constable Mark Herman, detailing how the suspect was subdued and captured, according to the constable's office. Every window and door, a potential entry point for danger, now secured by the law's swift hand as the deputies canvassed the area. The bond was set at $40,000.00 out of the 209th District Court, ensuring Torres remains under lock and key, for now, pending legal proceedings.
