
A week following a fatal collision on Guerneville Road, authorities have booked the suspect responsible for the head-on crash after her release from the hospital. According to the California Highway Patrol - Santa Rosa, the woman now faces multiple felony charges with bail set at $750,000.
The deadly incident, which claimed the life of a driver early last Monday, saw an eastbound BMW X6 swerve across the double yellow lines into the westbound lane, crashing into a Toyota RAV4. The Hoodline report detailed the collision, with the Toyota's operator pronounced dead at the scene. The BMW driver was transported to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital, having suffered major injuries.
Investigations led to the BMW driver's arrest under suspicion of driving under the influence of a controlled substance. Charges leveled against her include felony DUI and gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated. The driver also faces additional drug possession charges.
Lamenting the catastrophic nature of the crash, CHP indicated that the investigation is still in motion. Urging the public for insights, "We are relieved to have taken this major step towards justice," said CHP - Santa Rosa in a statement.
