
A violent Saturday in Phoenix has left three officers injured in two separate incidents, with one arrestee allegedly turning aggressive against law enforcement, authorities said, as reported by 12 News.
In the first scuffle, happening near 1st Street and Fillmore Street around 10 a.m., 20-year-old suspect Bobby Freeman was caught by police allegedly trying to stab an unidentified person, as per FOX 10 Phoenix, Freeman fled and upon being located, ignored officers' commands to surrender and purportedly began to punch and bite them, one victim of the assault, a female officer while he was booked into jail facing multiple charges that include aggravated assault on officers.
Less than 12 hours later, a second confrontation occurred when a suspect, currently unnamed, was apprehended after reportedly injuring three Phoenix officers near Fifth Avenue and McDowell Road around 8:30 p.m. The police were responding to reports of a suspicious individual potentially igniting fires, but when they approached the subject, a brawl ensued leading to the injuries of the officers as reported by 12 News. Following the incident, the suspect was detained and is in line to be charged with several counts of aggravated assault against a police officer.
All the injured officers from both incidents sustained minor injuries, two of which were transported to the hospital for evaluation while the third received treatment at an urgent care clinic, the latest altercation adding strain to a police department already grappling with the morning's violence.
