A male driver ended up behind bars after a car crash led to his arrest for alleged drunk driving and weapon possession, officials said. Constable Mark Herman's Office reported that on May 18th, deputies responded to a collision in the 27200 block of the Tomball Parkway, where they encountered Meredith Austin, the driver deemed at fault and suspected of being under the influence.

Law enforcement officers at the scene conducted field sobriety tests which Austin reportedly failed, his condition suggesting alcohol impairment, a suspicion confirmed by a blood alcohol content reading of 0.190, according to the Constable's office statement this was more than double the allowable legal limit. Along with these findings, Austin had a firearm in his possession at the time a detail which further compounded his legal troubles as carrying a weapon under such circumstances is prohibited.

Following the incident, "Meredith Austin was arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail, charged with Driving While Intoxicated and Unlawfully Carrying a Weapon. His bond was set at $200.00 out of County Court 05." said Constable Mark Herman.

The news of Austin's arrest made its way to social media where Constable Herman's office detailed the occurrence in a Facebook post on May 22nd, laying out the charges Austin is facing, which if convicted, could lead to serious penalties the kind of which may include not just financial fines, but also potentially significant restrictions on one's personal liberty.
