Residents and their furry friends have a new reason to flock to Lincoln Park in Tucson, as city officials unveiled a brand-spanking-new playground and the biggest dog park in the area. The ribbon-cutting for the dual attraction was held last Thursday, drawing locals to the sprawling greens at the Lincoln Regional Park, 8330 E. Escalante Road. The park's addition includes a shaded play zone for kids, located at the lower region of the Julie Marilyn Reitan Softball Complex, sitting at 8116 E. Escalante Road.
Christened Wagging Tails Dog Park, the feature is touted as a top-of-the-line playground for pooches, boasting a stretch of artificial turf where canines can romp around to their hearts' delight. According to Tucson Parks and Recreation's announcement, the facility was designed to ensure both a fun and safe experience for dogs and their handlers.
The festive dedication ceremony showcased the project that racked up a whopping $1,867,000 in development costs. The money came from a financial pot that included contributions from the Ward 4 office, among other donor sources, reflecting the city's commitment to creating communal spaces that enrich residents' quality of life.
For those who missed the celebration and want a peek at the new digs, you're in luck. Tucson Parks and Recreation has uploaded a video tour of the site that takes you through the paces of both the playground and the dog park. Dog lover or parent, it seems Lincoln Park has something up its sleeve for everyone, with the video available on their website.
