
Two juveniles have been nabbed by the Metropolitan Police for their alleged involvement in a brazen daylight robbery at L’Enfant Plaza, authorities announced. On a busy Friday afternoon, the area became a crime scene when a group of four suspects, including the two arrested teens, reportedly accosted a pedestrian. Brandishing a firearm, they forced the victim to hand over his belongings before making a swift getaway.
The Metropolitan Police Department's swift response led to the capture of two of the suspects, a 16-year-old, and a 15-year-old, whose names have been withheld due to their age. An official statement described the incident that took place on the 400 block of L’Enfant Plaza, Southwest, at about 2:50 p.m. on May 10, 2024. Responding to the robbery call, officers were promptly dispatched, and the two juvenile males, one from Northeast and the other from Northwest D.C., were subsequently charged with Armed Robbery, as noted in a press release on the MPD's website.
According to the MPD, the involvement of two other suspects remains an open thread in this case. MPD detectives are reaching out to the community in an effort to unmask the additional culprits who remain at large.
