Chaos erupted again in Windsor Hollow, a neighborhood reeling from a recent shooting that took the life of a 4-year-old child. Barely recovering from last week's tragedy, another shooting occurred yesterday evening, intensifying fear amongst residents, according to a statement obtained by KENS 5. "It feels like scenes you would see out of a movie. Just the no regard for life," a mother targeted in the shooting told KENS 5, preferring anonymity due to safety concerns.
The victim reported being outside her home with her youngest daughter when gunman Tre De On Anderson allegedly fired 16 shots at them. Fortunately, no one was harmed in this harrowing assault. Anderson, who was apprehended yesterday, faces additional charges for a separate burglary on May 11, in which he is said to, have forcefully entered the same house, vandalizing its contents.
Photos provided by the victim depict a chilling tableau of bullet holes plastered across the walls of her home. Expressing her gratitude toward law enforcement, the concerned mother's fear remains palpable. "I've lived out here approximately four years now and this is the most violence I've ever seen," she exclaimed, her sentiment reflecting the collective dread spreading across this once-peaceful community.
Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar updated that there are no new leads on the Windsor Hollow Drive shooting but remains hopeful as the investigation ensues. "It's not just me that's terrified, it's my whole neighborhood that has to change their normal routine so their kids can't be outside," the victim said during a KENS 5 interview.
In response to the surge of violence, Precinct 4 Commissioner Tommy Calvert has criticized the lack of investment in community-based anti-violence initiatives. According to Calvert, his proposal for a $900,000 fund to support local organizations tackling gun violence was rejected. Nevertheless, he insists on pushing for action: "We're just kind of skating around in lala land from a policy standpoint and not getting real about getting resources to these streets," Calvert lamented during a statement.
