Monday’s high is expected to reach 99, with heat index values as high as 102. Rain chances are low, though a stray shower or thunderstorm cannot be completely ruled out.
Hot Holiday With Limited Rain
Mostly sunny skies are expected through the day, with south-southeast winds generally between 0 and 5 mph. According to the National Weather Service office serving Austin and San Antonio, isolated showers and storms could develop regionally, with the better chances shifting toward the Hill Country or Coastal Plains rather than widespread activity in the city.
No watches, warnings or advisories are listed for the San Antonio area. Even so, the combination of high temperatures, humidity and light winds could make outdoor plans uncomfortable during the afternoon, when the heat peaks.
Near 100 Degrees Through Sunday
The heat is not letting up after the holiday. Tuesday is forecast to reach 99 with a heat index up to 102, followed by highs near 98 Wednesday, 99 Thursday, 100 Friday and Saturday, and 99 Sunday.
Overnight relief will be limited, with lows mostly between 78 and 79 degrees under mostly clear skies. Winds become somewhat breezier late in the week, reaching 5 to 15 mph at times, but not enough to erase the broader hot and humid pattern.
Plan Outdoor Time Around The Heat
For anyone spending time outside Monday or later this week, the cooler windows will be early morning and after sunset, although evenings may remain slow to cool. Water, shade and regular breaks will matter, especially for children, older adults, outdoor workers and pets.
