A shoplifting incident at a Walmart has resulted in the arrest of a woman who allegedly attempted to steal over $500 worth of merchandise. Deputies with Constable Mark Herman's Office arrived at the scene after being alerted to the situation by the store's staff.
According to the information obtained by the official Facebook page of the Precinct 4 Constable's Office, the suspect, identified as Diane Gerald, hid items with the intent to leave the store without paying. Deputies located Gerald, and recovered the merchandise, which was subsequently returned to a business.
"Diane Gerald was arrested and booked into Harris County Jail, charged with Theft. Her bond was set at $100.00 out of County Court 10." Constable Mark Herman stated. She faces charges for theft after the incident, which took place in the 26200 block of the Northwest Freeway.
The constable's online update provided few details about the suspect's motives or the specific items stolen. The theft charge against Gerald, if convicted, could result in varying penalties depending on her criminal history and the specifics of the Texas theft statute.
