Tragedy struck Clear Lake yesterday afternoon when a woman was fatally shot, in what appears to be a domestic violence incident, according to the Houston Police Department. The shooting took place at the 1600 block of Bay Area Boulevard, and the victim was discovered with multiple gunshot wounds around 2:50 p.m. A possible suspect has been detained by authorities as the investigation continues into the details of the confrontation that led to the gunfire.
Details of the argument that preceded the shooting are still scarce. However, Houston police revealed to ABC13 that they were alerted to an argument followed by the sound of a gunshot. This incident has broken the relative peace in the Clear Lake area, which, according to ABC13's Houston Neighborhood Safety Tracker, had not seen a homicide in the last year. The quiet streak, ended violently with yesterday’s shooting, the area includes prominent locations such as NASA's Johnson Space Center and is home to about 22,000 residents.
The Houston Police Department has yet to release the identities of both the victim and the apprehended suspect.
