A barrage of arrests has hit Wright County with a total of 28 individuals nabbed on a variety of charges ranging from DUI to domestic violence and controlled substances violations. The sweep of apprehensions, which took place between May 6th and May 12th, was detailed in a report released by the Wright County Sheriff's Office. Arrests included a 26-year-old from Alexandria brought in for 4th Degree of Criminal Sexual Conduct, and a Minneapolis individual, 36, who now faces charges for 5th Degree of Controlled Substance and 3rd Degree of DWI.
In a continued effort to quickly crack down on violations, local law enforcement does not seem to hesitate to cross county lines. For instance, a Buffalo resident, 26, was caught and charged with 2nd-degree DWI in his own area, whilst other suspects were picked up in different counties on Wright County warrants. This includes a case of a 43-year-old also from Buffalo facing charges for Obstructing Legal Process and Tampering with a Motor Vehicle, according to the Sheriff's Office report.
The arrests represent a mix of fresh charges and warrants being executed. Among those facing fresh charges, a 39-year-old from Waverly was apprehended in Buffalo on accusations involving 5th Degree Controlled Substance, Check Forgery, and smuggling contraband into a correctional facility. Meanwhile, Wright County warrants led to other significant arrests, including a 28-year-old from St Cloud for Theft and a 55-year-old from Brooklyn Park for 5th Degree Controlled Substance.
Driving violations also featured prominently in the scope of the arrest report with seven DWI-related incarcerations, illustrating an ongoing struggle to combat drunk driving in the area. Accompanying the crackdown on impaired driving were other notable arrests, such as a 56-year-old from Akeley taken in on 5th Degree Controlled Substance charges and several individuals caught for Domestic Assault, including a 41-year-old from Monticello. These incidents paint a concerning portrait of the persistent issues spanning across Wright County.
Traffic incidents were also reported during the same period, highlighting a total of 24 Property Damage Accidents, 7 Personal Injury Accidents, 3 Hit and Run Accidents, and 7 Car Deer Accidents. Miscellaneous traffic violations accounted for 110 tickets issued this week, as well as citations for 13 Underage Consumption and 4 School Bus Stop Arm Violations, showing law enforcement's broader vigilance beyond serious criminal activities.
